As an accredited Collaborative Lawyer and Family Mediator, I help clients resovle their family disputes including spousal support, child support, parenting time, guardianship, protection, divorce and property settlement disputes.
I strive to save my clients money and time. I understand the importance of no-court resolution in family law and work towards keeping families out of court.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, I worked at the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry headed by the Honourable Wally Oppal, Q.C. I subsequently articled with the Commission’s Senior Counsel, and former President of the Law Society of BC, Art Vertlieb, Q.C., and with Carol Hickman, Q.C.
Working with Ms. Hickman as an Articled Student, I assisted a wide range of clients, some of whom had few assets and some of whom wielded vast fortunes. Going to court made all types of clients feel like they had lost and I quickly learned the value of keeping families and children out of court. My goal is to find a process that works for my clients and allow them to reduce on-going conflict during their separation.
I serve as Director on the Board of Directors of Collaborative Divorce Vancouver. I am a volunteer member of the C.H.I.L.D. Foundation spreading awareness and working to find a cure for Crohn’s disease. Once a month, I hold informal presentations about the new Family Law Act, and its effects on the rights and responsibilities of parents, children and families. I play recreational ball hockey and often find myself hiking on Grouse mountain and in Lynn Valley.
I attended law school at the University of Sydney, Australia.
I am a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.
